Week 6!

Week 6. Half. Way. Through. Semester. One.

This week has gone so fast

As usual, a 9am lecture that was so boring and I cannot even remember what the lecture was about.
The seminar was on core stability. Literally an hour of breathing exercises and how to engage the core.

Tuesday was a day off!!! No clinic lecture. Lie in. A whole day of work.
I had a draft back for my anatomy and physiology case study so I spent all day doing that and little jobs.

Wednesday was the same. I went to watch the men’/ basketball narrowly lost to keele university and the women’s team win against Chester university.
A player went down with what looked like a sprained ankle which she described as her malleoli touched the floor.
Referred on for an X-ray which came back inconclusive.  Immediate ice and elevation to avoid swelling.

Thursday was a full day of cervical and thoracic spine examination and assessment. We started with revision of AROM, AROM with over pressure and resisted cervical and thoracic movements and progressed to special tests of the spine with I need a lot of work on!
Practise makes perfect so watch out family and friends!

Friday. I. Just. Love. Fridays.
My lecturer is fun, we spent the seminar in the musculoskeletal lab with the IKD and the stability system to look at the effects of k tape on ankle proprioception. We found that tape changes the ankles ability to know where the joint is. It makes it easier to know where the ankle is. Also, it changed the direction of the force that went through the foot. On The trial run, the ankle went anterior posteriorly to maintain balance however with k tape on it went medio laterally to maintain balance.
The lecture was all about sensorimotor system and how cricketers know exactly where to put their hands when they do slip catches.
We got to watch videos of the best boundary catches ever and odel beckham jr’s amazing touchdown catch.

Heading home there was a track fault between ormskirk and maghull so we had to wait an hour for a replacement bus. Meaning I get home at 5 rather than 4. Which is annoying. But I’m still home right.

Packed weekend of seeing family and friends and going to the zoo for my gorgeous godson’s birthday.
